Five Days of Fashion: Cute Circuit

Cute Circuit was definitely one of the most innovative collections at NYFW! The designers fused the high tech with high

fashion as models walked the runway with the latest tailoring AND technology. Cute Circuit clothing features "wearable computers"! Now how coolness is that? 

The state of the Art clothing was complemented by understated sandals of various colors. And the models wore hairdos of oh so perfect messy side braids. The collection featured everything to polytechnic suits to swimwear!

Five Days of Fashion: David Tupaz

Are you living en mode? Are you keeping up with this seasons trends? New York Fashion Week (NYFW) or Mercedez Benz Fashion Week (MBFW) starts February 11, 2015. In preparation for the upcoming Fashion Week I'm going to recap this seasons shows and trends with pictures that I took from the front row and backstage of the shows that I attended at NYFW SS 2015.

David Tupaz:

The David Tupaz exhibit and show took place at the home of Philipino heritage in New York (NY)-the Philippine Consulate. This marked the first time Tupaz had a showing in the New York area in many years, as he had relocated to Las Vegas and developed a tremendous following there. Tupaz is very well known for turning out very ornate and sumptuous gowns and finery, and his NY unveiling did not disappoint or veer from his famous craftsmanship. 

The exhibit actually began in the lobby of the Philippine Consulate where a speech was given by the administrators of the Consulate in appreciation of the hard work Tupaz has done and the respect and reference Tupaz has honored in terms of bringing awareness to the world about the traditions and beauty that is the Philippine culture. The large lobby area was full of those who had come from all communities and areas to admire Tupaz' work and dedication to fashion. Costumes that Tupaz had designed also flanked the lobby and the audience was given a sneak peek into the fabulous world of Tupaz fashion. The floor length gowns with hand beading and rich sumptuous fabrics and excellent tailoring illustrated just how talented Tupaz is, as well as highlighting his fine sense of detail. Legendary singer Tata Kay Habana kicked off the festivities with a melodic song. Then guests were invited upstairs for the unveiling of the much anticipated showcase. 

The collection featured black and white ensembles for both men's and women's fashion. Models strutted down the runway in sky high platform heels and hair styles ranging from intricate updos to simplistic crops; further illustrating Tupaz' love and appreciation for diversity and beauty of all forms and colors. 

Sheer fabrics and luxe linen were the order of the day. As well as the long lavish veils that Tupaz is known for. Proving that women can still wear a veil and it most certainly does not have to just be worn at weddings! On the contrary, the models displayed just how much a veil can be the unexpected yet grand finishing touch to any outfit. Especially a LWD like the one one model wore on the runway. The show was a spectacle of contrasts as the audience took in the black and white highly tailored suit jackets and pleated slacks. 

One thing is for sure: Tupaz brought a big  piece of

showmanship and glamour back to New York Fashion Week!

Pedicures!

A lot of people believe in only getting pedicures (pedi's) during the warmer months and especially in the Summer. I am not one of those people! Pedicures are key to your feet's hygiene. Thus they should be done throughout the year. 

I know that people feel like pedicures are frivolous and only done for looks or 'show and tell' but pedi's are essential for getting out any dead skin that may have collected along the cuticle of the toe, getting out possible ingrown nails, and sloughing dead skin on the foot, etc. And please note that it is NOT only a feminine thing to get pedicures! Men can and should get regular pedicures to enjoy optimal foot health as well! For example in this weeks post my good friend (and brother) Leo is in my pedi selfie because we actually went to get our feet done together!

Definition of a THOT

What exactly is a THOT you may be wondering. The exact definition of a THOT is that ho over there. But the full definition of a THOT means so much more than that. The basic premise of a THOT is someone who is trifling, living off the system, extremely promiscuous, basic, or just doesn't care about their life or their appearance. They may do or say things that can be seen as offensive and they do not adhere to social norms. 

You may also hear phrases like 'that THOT life', 'she is so THOT ish', and etc. So not only can one person be a THOT, basically THOTs have a totally different mindset and lifestyle. 

Ramifications of the THOT-ful way of thinking and definition: It is extremely interesting that the phrase THOT even exists today. It's basically just another way of calling a woman a whore. So here we go again with the tired and overused labels used to describe women's sexuality while paying absolutely no attention to men's sexuality or the things they do. It is the year 2015 and society is STILL coming up with misogynistic terms for women? Come on! Aren't we all a little tired of the whole Madonna vs the Whore struggle? I know I am! 

Why is it that men are never labeled in terms of sex? Why are there a zillion words for every part of a woman's anatomy but few for men? Are we STILL here people? Yet some argue that the double standard no longer stands or applies or that sexism is dead, or worse still-that women are overly sensitive to the stereotypes thrust upon them. As far as MY role is concerned I am not going to ever call a woman a THOT. I am tired of the overuse of sexist terms pertaining to women. It's discriminant, downplays women's sexual power, and it's always negative. Either way it's a lose-lose situation for women. So I'm going to learn from my counterparts, ye good old men, and support my sex; and stand by other women by NOT calling them a THOT; no matter the behavior!

Nail Art DIY Fun!

Remember when you couldn't wait to do your nails as a teeny bopper?  When you were oh so excited to learn new things, show off your nails, and change them to match every outfit? Well you can get that excitement back! All you have to do is realize that the power of beauty literally lies in your own hands! You can do it yourself! 

Nail art is a fun way to express your individuality. It's also a great way to celebrate the seasons or any festive occasion, or just show whatever mood you're in. All you have to do it get ready to have some fun and the sky's the nail art limit!

For this look I did one coat of Nailtek. I have very soft and peeling nails. So a good treatment is a must for me. Then two coats of OPI Lucky Lavender on all but the last two digits. On my pinky and ring fingers I did one coat of OPI Sheer Your Toys then topped it with one coat of glitter.  Next I added one large glitter stone to each nail. Then I stopped to think of what kind of mood I was in and decided on being bling-a-licious! So I put rhinestones at the base of my left hand middle finger and loose confetti stars on the ring finger of my right hand. The confetti stars can be purchased at any beauty supply. I did a couple swipes of fuschia and black nail art paint at the tips of each thumb and pointer finger for added drama baby! Yeeees! Next I did one coat of Nailtek as a topcoat. 

For my feet I followed the same steps. But I put the Sheer Your Toys on each third toe. Due to wearing boots and closed toe shoes because it's Winter I opted out of placing any other embellishments on my tootsies. 

See! Easy and fun! Now you're ready to kick off the Winter season with glamour!  

MBFW NYFW 2015

Hello Fashionistas!

Fashion Week or MBFW (Mercedes Benz Fashion Week), or NYFW (New York Fashion Week) was an experience of a lifetime! I had a grand ball with the FashionMingle.net team! 

NYFW is like the biggest best-est grown up dress-up party and display. Do you remember when you used to play dress-up as a little girl? Well, MBFW is like dress-up exemplified. There were so many exciting fashions to see. It really seemed like people were in their best costumes that only they could dream up. It felt like a walking, living, breathing closet. Fashion Week during September is THE most exciting time of the year for fashion. Because September is the January of the fashion world. Many of the bloggers and writers are profiled during this wonderful event. Check out the links I've provided below where I was featured.
